Bremen Castings, a gray & ductile iron foundry located in Marshall County, was honored to help sponsor the Bremen Boys & Girls Club as it opened its doors this year. This is the first year for the program located in Bremen, Indiana.
Children from Kindergarten thru 8th grade will be able to participate in the Bremen Boys & Girls Club this year which opens its doors with the 1st day of school on August 18th. The school corporation has set aside specific rooms to host the program over the next year and it will be open each day after school until 6 p.m. The Boys & Girls Club will follow the school schedule including all holidays, vacation schedules, and snow days.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our school age children. The program not only has planned activities for the children but also helps them with their homework in a safe environment that they are familiar with already.
There is a one time registration fee of $50 for the 1st child; thereafter, the fee reduces by $5 for each additional child (I.e. $45, $40, $35, etc.). If a family is unable to pay the fee, scholarship programs are available.
The club needs 100 kids for it to become "chartered"; but from the initial feedback received so far, this should not be a problem. Registration forms are available at the school when parents/guardians pay book fees, etc.
A special ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Monday, August 17th, at 5:30 p.m. in the Bremen Middle School before the school's Open House.
Angie Keller is the Bremen Boys & Girls Club Director. The Bremen club's board of directors consists of local residents. For more information contact, Brian Adams at 546-6014.
Their ultimate goal for the Bremen Boys & Girls Club is that the program becomes so successful that they outgrow their location at the school and are able to acquire an outside facility to house it. If this happens, extended hours will be offered along with bus transportation to that facility from the school. But again, that's in the future - Bremen Castings wishes them well.
