BCI Installs Fanuc R200A Robotic Grinding Cell and Re-Organizes Mill Room
Bremen Castings installed a Fanuc R200A (6-axle) Robotic Grinding Cell which increases BCI's automatic grinding capacity. The robotic cell includes two robots and 6 different grinders. The operator loads castings onto a belt which feeds into the robotic cell. The robot grinds the part and places it onto a container. The cell will initially focus on grinding heavier parts produced at BCI to help reduce operator fatigue.
During this same time, BCI re-organized its Mill Room to provide a more efficient material flow and increase overall grinding serviceability. A transfer car, also installed, will automatically transport castings from the blast machine to individual workstations. There are 8 manual grinding stations, 3 auto-grind stations, and the new robotic cell fed from this new system.
