Bremen Castings 2009 Small Business of the Year Finalist

The Indiana Chamber of Commerce recognized Bremen Castings, Inc. as one of six finalists for the 2009 Small Business of the Year (IN SBY) during a luncheon held at the Indiana Convention Center located in Indianapolis on Tuesday, November 10th. Accepting the award on behalf of BCI was president, JB Brown. JB congratulates everyone on the BCI team for making this happen. BCI has been an outstanding company since 1939 representing ourselves and the community throughout the world. A leader in the foundry industry, BCI is a manufacturer of machined complete components ready for assembly lines.

Those representing BCI at the luncheon were (front row) Denise Wilkie, JB Brown, Carol Senour, and Stan Hueni. (Back Row) Ray Reynoso, Dan Hirsch, Fred Bachman, Brad Harris, Cory Smith, and Darin Spearman.

Applications for the IN SBY were accepted through September 30th. Several essay questions were answered in addition to how BCI is committed to improving its business, community, and working with its employees; company and/or employee related published articles; community service projects within the company and employees; and letters written by employees as to why their company should be considered for this award. BCI was notified in mid-October that they were a finalist.

The Small Business of the Year award is open to all Hoosier companies with 250 employees or fewer. Indiana Chamber of Commerce President, Kevin Brinegar, stated "We are proud of the ongoing efforts of all the winning companies and the small business community at-large. These companies impact all of us. They contribute to many working families' income, to the prosperity of respective communities and to the entire state's economic competitiveness."

Manufacturing Technology, Inc. (South Bend) was awards the Chamber's Small Business of the Year. Other finalists included AllAmericanDirect.com (Indianapolis), International Medical Group (Indianapolis), Task Force Tips (Valparaiso), and Unified Group Services.

The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has been the state's largest broad-based business advocacy organization for over 85 years. The nearly 5,000 member companies employ over 800,000 Hoosier workers.
